I was tempted to post in the infamous "Clam under PC" thread, but decided to go it alone.
All opinions aside...
I've seen it with my own eyes...
Introduced a clam into my system running PC's, due in part to so many folks saying it could be done. After one week, I decided to upgrade(yes, I said UPGRADE) to 175w MH.
WOW... that clam, along with everything else in the tank, blossomed. I just thought the clam looked good until I added the MH. It looked like it wanted to jump out of there, and kiss me square on the mouth!
There is no question that clams thrive in MH, and after seeing the results, why would I ever want to just "get by" with a clam under PC's.
Your fish might make it with no light at all, but why take the risk, or more importantly, why put them through that.
Take it from a relative Newbie... Don't get a clam until you have sufficient lighting.
