iwasaki 175W SE 15K bulb

thanks - anyone out there running them?
sanjays sight puts them similar to a hamilton 250 14K mixed with a 10K and a huge PAR for a 175 even blows the 10K away? i've been running a hamilton 14K 175W and kinda like the color, but i ordered one of these, we'll see i guess.......

I have been running the bulb for about 2 months now. I love it. Before this I ran, XM 15K, and XM 10K, this is by far the brightest. I am able to keep SPS pretty much on the bottom without color loss. In terms of color, it is super white, just like described above. I wouldn't run them without actinics, but, I personally like a bluer tank.

i run one over my frag tank. the color is good crisp white. the sps growth is not as great as when i had 250w 10k xm over them, but is still good.

well i think i finally found my bulb........ i really like it. too early to say of course being that it has only been running 3-4 days and not even burnt in yet but it is what the talk has been saying. i have it 15" off the water right now and it is far brighter then my H 14K was 7" up, and not even a hint of the yellow that the U 10K was giving me - it is white! most noticable thing - my pink pocilli that was just kinda drab red/brown instantly glowed pink, obviously not a color change in the coral just a reflection of the more red spectrum in the bulb - but definitly cool!

Do these iwasaki bulbs run on standard ballast? Or do you need a special ballast like the 6500K? More info would be great...time to change bulbs...

Def let us know how it burns in. I bought one a few months ago. Beatiful color at first, but within a couple of weeks it went white, and now is yellow. I am wondering if it is just mine or if it happens with all of them.
Thanks

i'm running mine on a ice cap electronic - and yea i hope it don't color shift.... that would be a bummer...... the corals seem to like it too
before/after shots they stayed the original color for months and then within a week shifted to this:

I have been runnning mine for about 2 motnhs now. I ahven't noticed any shift in color. Mine is still bright white. I run mine on an electronic ARO ballast.

i got a pair months ago from the first batch. running on icecaps with no shift. got a second pair recently (gonna have 4 total on a 3x3 i'm setting up) and put a new one side-by-side with an old one and i couldn't tell the difference.

though if there is any yellow in the tank (algae on the glass), it picks it up and makes the light look yellowish.

looks like the key might be the electronic ballast. I am running a magnetic, and it is deffinetly yellow, even with actinics and clean glass.
