Jay's 145g IN WALL Tank

I've changed my mind now a few times on how exactly my new setup was gong to be done, and now that im moving into a new house vs an apartment a lot has changed .

Ill be using a 145g tank as the display, but i am making it an in wall set up . Theres approximately a 10'/6' recessed space in the living room that i will be walling of and putting a door in. (ill get a pic up as soon as i have a chance)

Im also not using the wooden stand that i bought with the tank anymore, so last night i started welding up the new stand. Making it out of 1''/1''/ 1/8'' steel angle and flat bar. I was going to use 1.5'' but steel is about $1.10 a pound so the 1.5'' angle almost doubled the price. I spent just under $100 on it all and it should be finished this weekend!

I will be using a 75g tank as the sump and still haven't decided exactly what else im going to tap into the system to make a large refugium and increase the water volume. Im leaning tords TWO 55g drums. They will hold over 100lbs of already cycled rock that i have and a tonnnn of micro algae. I hope the total water volume to be around 200gallons.

For circulation; i still have to get a few more holes drilled in the 145 but i plan on having TWO 1'' bulk heads for the drain and they will be returned with a PCX-100 that i just picked up. The tank also already has a few closed loop holes drilled in the bottom of the tank so im having TWO holes drilled for some 1.5'' bulk heads that will be returned with a Reflo Dart that i just picked up as well.

For lighting i have a 72'' coralife pc with lunar lights fixture. I plan on the tank being a softy only tank (shut up i love them lol) so the light should be fine for now.

I just ordered 100lbs of BRS "œReef Saver" rock so i hope to have a pretty nice looking rock layout. Ive got 100lbs of sand too, but im going to get a bit more as well.

The "room" will also house another drum or two hooked up to my Air Water and Ice RO/DI for top off and water changes. ill be plumbing the wast water line as well as a gravity fed drain line for water changes out of the tank into the laundry rooms washer drain

So all i need now is a skimmer (leaning tords a euro reef or reef octopus), getting a Emperor Aquatics 40w UV, and possibly an aquamedic kalkw stirrer 1000.

heres the tank. no returns will be coming out of the overflow, im goin to have the return hole thats there now drilled to fit a 1" bulkhead so ive got two drains.

oh the plastic frames are all cracked and the center braces were already broken out when i bought the tank so im in the process of taking all the plastic off then im goin to buy some more 1'' steel angle (making sure its super straight!) and welding up new frames.

and heres the start of the stand ill be finishing it this weekend!

and yes it looks flimsy now and kinda is for the time being and i wont be putting in a full length third leg either because i couldnt get my sump under. So since my Pops is helping me design it he suggested making a third support like a truss style bridge. He claims it will actually be almost 4 time stronger than a third leg anyway so sounds like a plan to me. ohh and im also taking some 1.5''/ 1/8'' flat bar and making some X braces on the back and sides of the frame to keep it from bowing any.

got realllllly bored drew this up on paint lol. only if i knew that was actually to scale so i knew it would all fit that good ;p. either way it still excites me:bounce1:!
