Any top off that is reliable is good in maintaining water stability and as we all know, a nano is the toughest to maintain.
I have built in shelves/ledges throughout my home (it's a southwest thing
) so I placed a 5gal Kent drip system above my tank and figured out the evaporation to be about a drop per 5 seconds.
I use a continuos Kalkwasser drip at that rate and the corals had never looked better.

It's a long formula, but the easiest way is through trial and error, just be around while trying in case you have the "error".
I'd start (if using a drip method) with a drop every 8sec and adjust it from there.
If you're using an automated float switch, set it and forget it.
