Have a question on this heater. Where would be the best place to put the temp probe for the thing? Would it be better in the sump or in the display. I dont have a big sump only 10 gallons with 2 different sections, one bigger section for heater and fuge and a smaller section for a return. If i put it in the bigger section in the sump on opposite sides from the heater do you think it would be alright?

I Wish I did some research on this heater before I bought it because the reviews on here do not sound to good for it. Already bought it so going to give it a try and hopefully my luck is better. If it isnt that great guess ill end up with a titanium heater that I could use with some other controller.

I have the 300 watt model. It stays within a degree for me. I am satisfied with my purchase. If at all possible keep the temp probe upstream from the heater. You don't want to be measuring what was just heated.

I have the 800W JBJ and I place the heater and probe in the same section. If your power went out and the return pump can't restart when the power comes back, you wouldn't want the heater to make one section too hot, while the sensor probe is in another section.

I have the 800w heater with the JBJ controller on my 120g. The probe has already failed on me once and I had to buy a replacement. I had it right at a year when it failed.

My heater stays in my overflow. The probe on the opposite end of the DT. Even if the pump stays off, as it has before, the tank heats and your powerheads would circulate the heated water. BUT you have to be careful when the pump restarts as the water in the overflow will be MUCH hotter than the rest of your tank and could cause a 5-6 degree swing. Luckily I was watching the controller and caught it after only 2 degrees.
