Jebao RW question

I was wondering if I should get 2 jebao rw-20 or just 1 for my 125g 6ft mixed reef. Also for my 40g breeder, if I should get 2 rw-8 or just 1? I am going to dial it down for the rw-20. I currently have 2 hydor 1500 which im going place in the back pointed up to get the water from the back of the tank. Just curious since I have never used these pumps before and people say they push more water then they are actually rated at.

I have two RW-8s on my 6ft 180 gal tank. They are only running at 70% and I have moderate flow throughout the tank. I think two RW-20s may be too much. Is your tank bare bottom or do you have a sandbed?

I have a 2-3" sand bed in the 125g and a 4-6" sand bed in the 40g. Thats why im hesitant to buy a rw20. I guess I will go with 2 rw8 for the 125g but what about the 40g breeder? 1 rw8 or 2 rw4? Im leaning towards 2 rw4 since the rock setup in my 40g breeder resembles a "W". Im planning on getting a carpet nem for it since it has a 175w MH but it wont be until 6 months from now. My 125g rocks resemble a "[" but at each end im thinking of keeping my 2 hydors in the back of the tank just pointed up to get water circulating from the back of the tank. If its too much flow, I guess I will be selling my hydors then lol

i just put an rw-8 in my 40 breeder and I can't go above speed 3 before really ****ing off the corals.

In hindsight, I'd have gone with an rw-4 and adding a second rw-4 if necessary after seeing a single rw-4 in the tank for a bit.

Stuck with the rw-8 for now, I may just buy a variable power supply to it in order to knock its power in half.

I just installed dual RW-8s in my 4 foot 140 gallon. I can only run them at about 60% without the water becoming dangerously close to splashing over. These things are awesome!

I have the rw-4 in my 29gal biocube running at about 30% anything higher sand is blown everywhere.. and I actually thought about getting the rw-8.. would have blown the tank off the stand..

Thanks for eevery one's input. I guess I would be getting 1 rw4 for the 40g and see how it is and if I need another one.

I've got 2x RW-8 on my 4 foot and operate on 2/10 to keep sandbed intact. I wouldn't get RW-20 or even RW-15 on a 6 foot tank.

Apparently little known with all Jebao pumps, if you lower the voltage (but keep same amps) you get lower flow, allowing a more adjustable range.

I'm using 15V on my pumps now, allowing much higher settings.

I just purchased 2 x RW-20's to try and increase the flow in my 400gal reef. It is 96x32x32 viewable from 3 sides. So the power heads had to be on one of the short walls. My issue was trying to hide the powerhead and also get flow the entire length of the tank. I have been a Tunze user for 10 years and last year upgraded to 2 x 6155's in hopes of getting flow the entire length. They never really moved much water past the 4-5 foot distance away from the pump. I tried bouncing off the glass etc. but really not much improvement. I heard about the RW pumps and put them in the tank yesterday. What a difference! It moves the sand bed 7 feet away from the pump. My ORP dropped instantaneously from 365 to 260 this morning as all the debris from the rock and sand bed was kicked up and taken down to the sump. Some of my snails are getting blown over on the sand bed under the pump from the back wash of the pump sucking up water. I purchased Torx Apex cable for these pumps so I will have similar control to my Tunze setup in a day or two.
Phenomenal pumps, especially for $109. I wish they would sell them without the controllers for those that don't need them. Probably get the cost down to $85 per pump. Considering I paid $600 for each of my Tunze pumps.
My only negative is the magnets suck. No chance of them holding onto the glass. So I built a little acrylic mount where the pump is stuck to the acrylic sheet and then I suspend that into the tank with a separate holder.

RW20 will be too strong.

We have one on our 10' tank... and it's STRONG.

On our 150 gallon frag tank, we have two RW15s, more than enough flow.

60x36x16" tank.
