Jellies from Monterey Bay (12 photos!)

I posted earlier about what Canon lens to buy (my Xti) for my trip to Monterey Bay. I ended up getting the 50mm 1.4 and it was perfect! It lived on my camera almost the entire time.

The best thing about the Monterey Aquarium is their jellyfish. I think I was the only person in those exhibits taking pictures with no flash. Definitely the most cameras were found in that section of the whole place.

Here's the shots I got, there are a lot of them:

Shots were either all manual or Aperture Priority mode, all hand held.

#2 - 1/60 sec, F/2.5, 50mm, ISO 800

#5 - 1/30 sec, F/4, 50mm, ISO 800

The jelly tanks have unusual lighting, and sometimes the subject you are shooting moves perfectly into a spotlight. I hate using a flash on scratched up public tanks!

those are nice shots.. here's a picture i took while at the long beach aquarium back when they had their jellyfish exhibit.

Great shots there. I really like 3 and 5 of your second post.
Did you get any other pictures in? Or just jellies?

The jellies were my favorites. The rest of the tanks were very tough to shoot. Too many people, very dark lighting, scratched up tanks, etc. Here's a few of the others that worked out:

Those cold water tanks are cool. I gotta take my camera over to the Seattle Aquarium and see if I can get halfway decent shots.

aztbs, nice captures, those jellies are not easy to keep in focus in those low light tanks. And composition is dead on too. Good job!!
