I am buying a 72X24X30 tank. Want to run seaswirls fed from the return in front two corners, and a tunze setup on the ends on a controller to randomize flow. I have a G4X for skimming and going to use a euroreef 5-3 for Ozone. wanted to just have an inch or so of substrate so was going to try a DSB in a bucket plumbed to the sump underneath. have a korallin 1502 reactor for cal. going to run 3 x 250 MH 10K and two 6' VHO actinic. any input as to possible changes?
Thanks for any thoughts.

I think that I would go with a 400 w MH with a 30 in tall tank. I would also think about going 30 wide tank that is what I have and I love the with there is so much that you can do with it. where as with the 30 tall it is a little hard to get down to the bottom of the tank. IMO

I agree with Corn except for the 400 watt halides. The use of 400 watt lights, especially three of them is way overkill on this tank and a waste of electricity imo even if you want high light corals. I prefer 30" tall tanks and the wider the better imo. I plan on using the DSB in a bucket with an inch of substrate too. If you tell us what types of corals you plan to keep we can help you out more. Also what are your goals? Is cost of equipment or energy consumption important to you?

well cost isn't too important, as Im combining a 90,70 and a 60 into this tank. so energy should come out even. I've wanted a bigger tank for years and am willing to spend the money to do it right. The corals are what I already have which are mainly SPS. I was wanting the 250 so lower light items will go good in the lower areas while the Monti's, torts, milli's ect can enjoy the upper 1/2 or so.
