Joining the DRC

I would like some information on joining the DRC. I live about 10 minutes from the DMB in NJ. Were do you have your meetings?

The Club's next meeting is Sept 17th, in Newark, at the Newark Library. More info about the club can be found here
You can also PM kaptken as he is the president of the club, really nice guy, and can give you all the info you need.

Do you go to the meetings? Are there a decent amount of members? How far is Newark from the DMB? Are the meetings always held at that location?

I actually just started going to the meetings at the last one for the season before the summer. They used to be held at the Bear Library, but hav been moved to the Newark Library.

I hope their is a decent amount of people coming to the meetings. From reading the forums, there should be a good turnout this season. You are probably looking at 15 - 20 minutes from the DMB depending on traffic. You could always meet me at my house for the meetings and we could go together. I am only like 5 - 10 from the DMB... would save you some travel and gas.

I was going to join the NJRC....But they meet at people's houses throughout the state. This months meeting is in Cape May....Kind of a haul for a meeting. If I join my friends would most likely also join. What was the last meeting like?

Well since it was the last of the season, it was pretty slim, maybe 7 members, but it was already the beginning of the summer essentially. I would at least come check it out for the September meeting, The meetings are always held on the third Monday of the month at the Newark Library.

Even with the light turn out, people still brought some frags to swap. I am really looking forward to this years meetings. There are some good raffles, and more.

I know the dues are $20.00 but do I need to fill out a form? Who do I send payment to?

Hi RBU1 and all!

I had to dig out my notes from last year to make sure. Last fall, Mary, Marty and I met to review our funding and dues and other business. We decided to adjusted the dues down a little. The new rates are:

full time students: $5
Individual membership: $10
unlimited Family membership: $15.

Per year. due on the anniversary of your joining, rather than the first of the year. We shall try these a while and see how we do. The idea is to attract more new members while still covering expenses. I have some forms to collect your contact info and will bring them to the meetings. I guess we should update the website too, to clarify.

I have been using the club for free for two years. I think I owe some dues. hehehe Can I pay them at the upcoming Dr Mac trip?

Thanks for the response. I plan on attending the September meeting. I guess at that time I will pay and fill out the form. What type of hobby experience do your members have? Just curious to the amount of saltwater knowledge in the club.
