Jumping Royal Gramma

Has anyone had a jumping royal gramma? Unfortunately, I found mine on the carpet this afternoon and it was long gone. It was a beautiful fish but I don't want to replace it if jumping is common to the species.

Any feedback appreciated.

I have a Grama as well. Hasn't jumped in the 2-3 weeks I've had it.

However, when the fish store guy was trying to catch it it jumped a clear 4 to 6" outta the tank almost into his arms. It landed back in the aquarium, but it was so fast.

So, my understanding is that they don't normally jump, however, if spooked, chased, issues with water parameters, etc, they will jump as a method of escaping something.

What other fish do you have? Something may have simply been chasing it and it raced right out of the tank.

What is bizarre is that there have been no new additions in months and the gramma was fairly dominant.

1 perc, yellow tang, blue damsel, 3 chromis.

All fish jump, some more than others. A few weeks ago my coral beauty jumped. He's been in my tank for going on 8 yrs. I was fortunate enough to be right there and put him back in.
