Just a couple of pics of my Derasa spawning.

At least I think that is what is was doing.

It was expelling water much more forcefully and in a very narrow stream. It actually came out of the tank a couple of times. THat is what caught my attention.

You can see the coudyness of the stream in the 1st pic. It did this 5 or 6 times. The last couple, nothing came out.

This pic is just for comparison. Tank water was a little cloudy already from doing a little maint.

Just thought I would share.

Very cool pics.
How big is that Derasa anyway? Looks like maybe 10" or more! How long have you had it?
Mine sometimes squirts jets, I think to adjust it's position a little on the sandbed or clear it's tissues of trash, but nothing like what you describe.

I would say close to 12". That tang is about 6". The tank is 24" tall. I have had it about 9 months. It was pretty big already when I got it.

Yea, mine squirts and moves around some of the time. But have never seen it do this. Most of the other times, it rocks back and forth and moves sand around it. This time it was dead solid and squirted straight up. You can see the surface movement in the 1st pic.

Amazing picture, well done.
No idea if it's spawning, but very impressed at how many parts of it [cloud, surface of water, siphon] you got in one shot.

Thanks. This shot was one of the last ones I could have taken. I missed the 1st 4 times by the time I got the camera and tripod out.

Then I had to get the book and freshen up on setting the camera for multiple exposures. I was lucky I got this one shot initially. By the time I did all the setting changes, the water coming out of the clam was no longer cloudy.

I just wish I had not stirred up the tank before hand. The shots would have been much more clear. But then again, the stiring of the sand could have been part of the stimulation that innitiated this.

The clam was the reason I was moving the sand around in the 1st place. It had piled the sand up serveral inched deep back under the rocks and there was almost no sand left around the clam.
