Just wanted to get your opinions, thoughts and what not...especially those of you who have had or do have young kids in preschool or early elementary. I'm sure that many of your kids have done themes related to the ocean or reefs. Considering here in Cleveland/Akron except for the LFS, we are one big city that does not have an Aquarium to speak of and that we lost SeaWorld years ago...Have any of you had your kids class or hosted kids to see YOUR tanks??? Just curious...

Too bad we couldn't all pitch in our aquacultured livestock/frags to an organization to get an Aquarium going in the area again.

um have you been to the primate and aquatics building at the zoo? Although its not a true aquarium they do have some amazing stuff there.

nothing like a public aquarium though :) Not even close.
I believe there still is a group of people trying to bring a public aquarium back to cleveland, Mike MDM might be able to bring more info to the table on that. John Jada might have some info as well. I forgot all the details but It's in the works I think.

i agree i was only saying thats its still a nice place to bring a field trip just trying to send a shout out for the zoo since they let c-sea host there meetings there.

it's nice don't get me wrong, but its nothing like a public aquarium is all. You can probably spend multiple days at the shed and still not see everything. I wish I went to macna this past year, that public aquarium is worth the trip alone. Hopefully Cleveland comes through with the money, I hear they got a 10 million donation from someone already...Just a drop in the bucket but it's a start in the right direction.

wow, thanks for the website on the cleveland aquarium. didn't even know that it was still a viable project. honestly, haven't even heard any info on it in a long time.

yes, I have been to the zoo, touch exhibit, etc. but like kreeger said, it is nothing like the public aquariums. And if I remember correctly, the zoo doesn't have much on corals, just mostly fish, sharks an some inverts.

My daughter came home and her entire preschool was doing a themed art show on the coral reefs. I'm sure most haven't seen live coral. It just got me thinking about how we can expose kids other than our own to "live" coral not just pictures in books and "Finding Nemo". Might make a difference in the whole "save the coral reefs" if people actually see a live display. From what I have seen on this site and the rest of reef central, you all have such fabulous displays! Didn't know if you ever show them off!!!

What a wonderful read..and what memories that article and pictures brought back! I had forgotten what it looked like inside but I do remember my parents taking us as kids. Little did they know what kind of addiction they started. I guess it could be a lot worse. Thanks for the link.
