Just Dreaming...

This is a potential stock list for the 90 Gallon that I hope to upgrade to someday soon. Please realize that this is just dreaming. If I float a little too high, feel free to pull me back down to earth but... Please - don't crush my dreams- bring me back gently!

Fish
2 extreme misbarred ocellaris OR
2 Gold Banded Maroon Clowns OR
2 Pink Skunk Clowns
1 Midas Blenny
1 Citron Goby
4 Blue Green Chromis
1 Mystery Wrasse
1 Half-black Angelfish
1 Helfrichi Firefish
1 Convict Tang
1 Black Capped Basslet
1 Mandarin (Eventually)

C.U.C. / Inverts
15 Scarlet Hermits
10 Yellow-Tip Hermits
5 Halloween Hermits
5 Nassarius Snails
3 Emerald Crabs
3 Peppermint Shrimp
2 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Purple Short Spine Urchin
1 Deresa Clam

This tank will initially start off as a bare bottom FOWLR and clean up crew, hence only 5 snails for a 90 gallon tank. I know this is a heavy stock list, but I hope to run a beast of a skimmer in a custom 55 gallon sump and refugium so as to better deal with the heavy bio load.

I welcome comments, questions, suggestions and revisions. I want to plan ahead for this tank so that I can avoid impulse-buys. So equipment suggestions would absolutely be helpful as well!

I'd go with the 2 extreme mis bars. Personally I'd go with a ssb because I like the look better too. I love dreaming about this hobby

I would likely start with a faux sand bed so that I could experiment with the bare bottom but have the look of sand. Yes, I adore my clownfish... And I am a dreamer to a fault. Hehehe!

Sounds like a good stocking list though I'd get two picasso clowns, trade the half-black angel for a Japanese Swallow Tail or a Wantanabe Angel, and trade the Convict Tang out for a Potter's or Flame Angel. I'd also make sure you have a beast of a skimmer like you mentioned and a good sized fuge with macro algae for extra nutrient export. Since we are dreaming an ATB 8.5 deluxe or BubbleKing mini Gen 2 180, Vertex Alpha Cone 170 or a more viable option would be a SRO-2000XP would all be great choices for a skimmer.

I've kind of had it with Tangs for right now as the last two I had in my 125g just never really got along even though they never hurt each other, it was just too hard watching new tank mates being cowered into a corner, so I traded one for store credit and one for a Flame Angel. I plan on using the store credit for a Female Japanese Swallowtail Angel, or Female Bellus Angel soon. Good Luck making your dream come true!:)

Shall anyone offer up their opinions on the protein skimmers mentioned in the above post?
Steve, I think the fish that you have suggested are beautiful, but sadly few would thrive with me. The Swallowtail and Watanabe angels are both listed as having a bare minimum tank size of 100 gallons on live aquaria. I wouldn't want to smoosh them into a tank too small for their needs. The Potters angel is absolutely gorgeous, however it is listed as being expert only, and I am far from expert! I could do a flame angel, however, assuming I find a well-behaved individual that doesn't have the urge to nip at corals once I decide to add corals into the mix. I always have admired their stunning colors... Is there a reason why you would prefer not to include the half black angel, or is that just personal preference?

I have made a few revisions to my list. Here is a repost with the revisions:

This tank will initially start off as a bare bottom (though may eventually transition to 1" shallow sand bed) FOWLR and clean up crew, hence only 5 snails for a 90 gallon tank. I know this is a heavy stock list, but I hope to run a beast of a skimmer in a custom 55 gallon sump with a HOB filter and DSB refugium with live rock and chaeto so as to better deal with the heavy bio load. I will do weekly 10 gallon water changes or bi-weekly 20 gallon water changes.

Regarding the question about whether wrasses need a sandbed... Yes, some types do, but with a Mystery Wrasse being the only wrasse I see on the list, a BB will be fine. They don't need a sandbed.

However, the nassarius snails do need a sandbed. Without sand, I'd go with another type of snail that doesn't burrow in the sand. (On a related note...my Mystery wrasse thinks nassarius snails are tasty. When I've needed to add some, I've had to wait until the Mystery has hit the sack for the night :))
