Well picked up 2 tanks today and one is a Neo Nano and the other is the 42x42x24 cube..

I will update with a few pics later this morning. I will have to build a stand for it and rework the internal filtration as it is an old DAS tank.

Can't wait to see your build thread. What kind of setup are you thinking about doing with the 42x42x24?

I am thinking of running a couple 36" T5 fixtures, having alot of open room for swimming as It will most likely be a mixed reef well atleast a shot at it as I want a few large angels. I didnt get a chance to get pics yet as I have been working and planning the stand build and the tank is still sitting in the back of my Van and I am about to go into work.

I am thinking of running 2 4bulb T5 fixtures on this tank what is yalls thoughts? I wont be doing any SPS and only a few LPS and rest would be ricordia and softies?

Here are some pics

So what are yalls thoughts on drilling the bottom as it is pvc ontop of plywood? I am sure I will remove the wet/dry boxes but it has a premade whole in tge dry box for the wiring to go through.

Drill it!!!! Buuuuuuut, be very careful about where you drill it until you know exactly how you want the tank to sit. If you're not going to make it 4 side viewable no reason to put a center overflow, not a big fan of them myself because they're a PITA to hide (a rock pillar seems so unnatural).

Also wherever you do drill it, make sure you deal with the plywood, epoxy or oil paint over it and around the hole, if that plywood is at all structural you do not want it get wet.

That is what I was thinking. Its an old das tank so yes I am sure the plywood is structual. I may even just use a hob overflow. No matter I have to figure out a way to seal over the whole that is originally there fow the cords in the middle of tank.

I am also going to reseal the tank which I have done before on a 200g tank.

Yeah I am still debating. May just leave the one dry box but still not sure how that would look and work but will be doing some trial and errors.

Still got to build the stand which is happening very quickly due to not much time off from work and working nights makes it hard.

Only suggestion I can think of is to think about what you may put under the tank in the cabinet in relation to where you will drill.

By this is assume you mean re-doing all the silicone on corners and around overflow? If So, ive been thinking of doing this to the used 125g tank i recently picked up, since the tank and silicone is old and pretty dirty. I would like to redo it with black silicone. IF this is the process you are talking about, can you elaborate on how you go about it a little? Thanks.

Yes all the silicone that is inside the tank. I am not going to take it apart and redo. I used a razor blade to remove everything before but make sure you dont get the the blade inbetween the panes of glass. You can use alcohol to lossen up the silicone alittleaswell and also after removal to get all the little pieces off. If you need more info just ask but I had gotten it from previous threads on here.

Well All I will be building the stand tonight. Just wont have it skinned if you know what I mean. I am still trying to figure out how I want it to look.

Ok can yall help me with some equipment ideas? Trying to figure out how I would do a sump/refugium/ato system. I.E. meaning different tanks for each or an AIO. Also what about UV sterilizer, skimmer, lighting (T5)(how many bulbs total) will be 36" fixture or fixtures. Media Reactors, return pump and plumbing etc.

Also would yall sand down the original design on the tank trim? That would help to how I would skin the stand.

Here is the stand until i figure out the shell.

Well for skimmer(s) I was thinking of running 2 of the SCAquariums 302 skimmers which are rated at 180g each. Which would allow me to run the heavy bioload that I want. Which is cheaper than running one of the Magnus skimmers or any other large skimmer as they are only 130 a piece.

As Far as lighting goes I am thinking of either running 2 or 3 T5 4bulb fixtures. Whats your thoughts? There shouldnt be any SPS in the tank and if so it would be near the top.
