Yesterday i got a cleaner shrimp from captain larry's and the guy sayed that the fish will lay down and the shrimp will clean it but i have not seen that. I was wondering how long it will take for the shrimp to clean it?? Also will it clean off the corals??

I don't know about laying down to get cleaned, but the fish will come to them and let them clean them... sometimes the shrimp will jump onto the fish being cleaned.

I think they set up a station in the aquarium and the fish come to them...

as for cleaning corals, I don't know for sure, they probably just scavenge food that is laying on them. I don't know if they clean inside their mouths

how much are the shrimp at cap larrys btw? and how big are they?

Won't clean corals in the same sense that they clean a fish. They will pick debris off of corals. Have to watch it sometimes though, because when I feed my acans or suncoral, the shrimp will try to take all the food from them. As far as fish laying down, they don't. You may notice them rotating a bit from side to side.

They do their shipments every Thursday/Friday, so I would recommend going then. Great prices though.

My cleaners took about a week to set up their "station". My fish were shy though, because I had a CB Shrimp in there that went after the fish all the time. I had the same problem with them stealing food from the anem. So, I just gave each shrimp their own piece before feeding the anem. They come right to my fingers to get the food too.

yeah, they are fun. I have a cleaner and a blood red and the will climb on my arm like a jungle gym when I am trying to do anything in the tank

I went there when they first opened up.. got a post card in the mail from when they were in business before.. I think the cleaners were $20 around 2 months ago..
in that 300 gallon tub they had a 2 foot long puffer they ordered for someone...

I think they just pick an area of the tank and hang out there most of the time...

the ones I've seen seem to prefer the top area of the tank..

Some fish will submit to cleaning and others will not. My shrimp moves around the tank and cleans when he gets an opportunity. My Starry Blenny seems to enjoy the attention and I've seen the shrimp clean inside its mouth many times.

I had one for about 2 weeks, then havnt seen him since. Last time I saw him is when I did a water change, I didn't acclimate him but he was active. Wonder if he had a bad molt or somthing :(

I have a blood red I got from there when they were on east market about 2 years ago. I never see him he hides under rock and only come out at feeding time. but my cleaner would climb all over my arm whenever I put my hand into the tank. Big difference in personalties

i was in two turtles and saw a blue tang go up to a cleaner and it cleaned around its mouth and inside of it. it was neat to watch pretty much the shrimp will just sit somewhere and fish will come up to it i heard it is pretty much just with tangs though
