Make sure you go south of Tavinier, just got back from a week in key largo (upper keys) the reef there are DEAD! Just alot of reef rubble laying where the reefs used to be. I grew up in miami and have been diving the reefs in the keys for 45 years and have never seen it so bad. If they don't stop big sugar in the everglades the death of the reefs in florida will spread south over time. The dive boats out of the upper keys are still taking tourists out and they dive on the reefs, but it is just soft corals and sea fans, which, look nice, but there are NO hard corals left. We had our own boat and dove about 7 of the upper reefs, very sad what has happened over the last 40 or so years.
