You bought a digital SLR, you will not see the image on the LCD, you must look through the viewfinder. The image will appear on the LCD for preview after you take the picture.
I love the feature on that camera that blacks the screen when you put your eye up to it.
Your macro settings will vary greatly depending on what you are shooting and in what light.

Well I guess that'll take some time getting used to. My buddy had the Nikon D80 but I thought that was his camera. I guess its all SLRs.
