I've got a 65 gallon and Im trying to start a reef tank. I have a black foot clown
And I'm looking to add another tankmate any suggestions

Welcome Atrain. Selecting a fish is really a personal selection of what appeals to you. Certainly you should only consider a fish that is appropriate for your tank. In other words, don' get one that would grow to be too big for your tank. And of course some fish are not friendly towards others should be avoided, unless all the others fall into that category and they can hold their own. You should probably also find out what they will eat and if you are willing to go the extra mile on an ongoing basis for those that have special requirements. For example, mandarin gobies are really fasinating, but they can be finicky eaters and they have special diets and need a well established tank.

I have a book that categorizes fish by their temperment, even gives suggested stocking based on size of your tank, so I am guessing there are many other resources that do the same.

I have never had a black foot clown so I cannot make any specific recommendations, but there are probably others on here that have.

Welcome

Welcome

Welcome!... Pretty new here myself, I just joined a couple days ago. If you need any help getting going or have any issues along the way just let us know. Where are you located? I'm in Covington, doesn't seem to be many reefers in this area. Maybe that will change though...

Welcome to RC. There is tons of information available here. The search button can be your best friend. Black foot clowns are a nice looking fish. Tell us a little about your tank.

Atrain glad to have you in the group.
Sucker fish ou need to come by little old munford and check out my new build in person some time.

Thinking back to one of my previous tanks, I had a starry Blenny. I loved that little guy, he had character and could change his pattern and color shade to blend in with the liverock which was cool. Overall a good fish as long as you don't have any other bennies in the tank.

Welcome! I have a starry blenny in my reef tank and I love him! He is the main entertainment - they have a fab personality - he will fetch algae wafers like a dog fetches frisbees :) If I am late with dinner he is sitting straight up on his tail at the front of the tank to let me know its time to eat.. lol Choosing your fish is the best part of reefing :)

+1 for Starry Blennies! I picked mine up in trade and his name is "Homer" (as in Simpson), because of his facial features. If you know what I'm talking about, it fits!!!

Thanks for the advice, I will look into the star. I added a purple medium tang with two blood and peppermint shrimps, there doing great but now my tank is starting to develop algie on my live rock (somewhat heavy)
