HIya,

I've been blessed with non stop production of Percula's. I've read Wilkinsons book, wetweb etc etc. My concern is making sure the juvies get the right food. I have about 175 - 30 day old clownfish. I've been feeding them Seclon enriched brine shrimp, a variety of flake food, blendered gammarus and animal protein fortified rotifers ( I switched to animal protein after they morphed). I'm not sure what size these little buggers shoud be by now, but Ii;m doign my best not to raise "dwarf"/stunted clowns. Nice thing is the parents lay egss every two weeks now. So if I make mistakes, I can learn from them.
They gt a 10 percent water change every day and have a 10X turn over in the tank. They also receive sunlight .. when it's sunny out.
Photoperiod is 16hrs
Any ideas on a feeding regimen to ensure normal size?

Thanks,

john

Have you tried Otohime ?I would reccomend the starter pack.Cyclopeeze is also very good..As far as growth feed, feed, feed like 10 times a day

The other thing you should do with Otohime is top dress it with naturose. It will help with the bright orange coloration.

I did not see where you are located... I could get you some Otohime to try.

HI Sanjay,
I live in Roaring Spring. I'm not familiar with Naturose. I'l have to google it.
On a seperate note. How do you get the clowns to stop laying eggs? I rearranged the tank, changed the salinity, changed the light intensity, the timing, feeding..etc....they lay every two weeks like clockwork. I don't think the market needs a few thousand domestic perc's, so I let the parents eat them.

Thanks for everyones help,

John

Let them keep laying eggs. Just don't collect the babies.

I am sure if you get good at breeding them and have high quality, you can find wholesalers who you can sell to. Although even the good breeders are finding that the market is tough especially in rural areas.

I have batch of hybrid clowns (Onyx perc with Black Ocellaris), that is now 2 months old.
