I use a Kalk reactor made by Presision Marine and this one looks like it works in the same manor. You'll need a dosing pump to deliver the water threw the reactor. I use a LiterMeter from Spectrapure. There's many others on the market too.
My opinion is that you can't go wrong with a kalk reactor. But that's just me.
I found that my rate of discharge (not the amount of water passing through, which is metered, but the amount of kalk powder that is dosed through the system) varied considerably.
I think setlled limewater is much more consistant. (and its just the cost of a bucket) If you are pressed for room, I'd opt for calrx.
If you're determined to try kalkrx, I have a pm version here I am not using - paid $250, you can have for $100 and I'll throw in whatever mrs. wages I have left. I bought a case, prob have 4-6 jars left - would have to look in garage.
Your correct, and I was actually thinking of using both the kalk reactor and adding a calicum reactor and have my aqua controller deliver the calcium depending on the PH of the tank.
This hobby can get quite crazy, or maybe it's just me, lol.
Tim, thanks for the response, and Justin thanks for the offer, I think for now I'll just drip. But just for my information do you think a dosing pump like the Sentry pump would have enough pressure to pump through a kalk reactor, remember it a resistance dependent type pump. ie: you can clamp the out put line with the pump running. I have one like this http://www.reefdosingpumps.com/
As for sentry pump, I cant say for sure - no experience with that type. I use a masterflex dosing pump I bought on ebay for $60. Thing is built like a tank.
