Kalk. Reactors...Pump stirred vs. Mechanical

Hi folks,

I'm getting ready to purchase a Kalkwasser reactor and I was wondering if I can get your feedback as to the pros and cons of reactors that are stirred with mechanical stirrer vs. stirred with a pump.

I was looking at the Deltec reactor and if you have any information regarding this specific one that would be great.

I like the slow constant stir design of the Deltec Vs the typical aggressive stir on a timer design. Aquamedic also makes a constant stir reactor that is a lot less expensive than the Deltec.

I purchased the aquamedic stirrer (similiar to the deltect).

Only had it a couple weeks but I enjoy it. No experience with using powerheads, but because of the configuration of this stirrer, I shouldnt have to ever worry about cleaning a pump.

I also use the aquamedic SP3000 dosing pump with it.

I doubt that any stirring mechanism is better than another for keeping the calcium in solution. I would be more concerned as Mr. Kong illuded to with the maintenance. The affect concentrated kalk would have on the pump.
