Kalk Stirrer

I have gotten a Kalk Stirrer from Avast Marine Set it up and have it working, been running about two weeks now and i am starting to see the PH drop, does that mean that the Kalk is depleted even though there looks to be lots of Kalk Median remaining? It is winter here and it is a little colder, so my evaporation is a little less, but the temps have been this way for more than the time the stirrer has been running, and i use heavy duty heaters and chiller, temp swing is only .3 to .4 of a temp swing.

I believe avast said after 2 weeks kalk starts to lose its potency , so you don't want to put too much in at one time

I am guessing something else is going on. You should be seeing an increase in pH if you just added the kalk reactor.

I've been running an Avast K2 for close to 2 years now to offset the pH drop through the night. I use a solenoid that opens every even hour from 10PM until 12PM the next day for 3 minutes. I have to top off with 1/2 cup weekly for my requirements and I clean the sludge out every 2-3 months. I can definitely see the potency drop if I don't do this. IMO they work great.
