Keeping Different species together?

Hello everyone,

I have a rather odd question. I have set-up a 15g rubbermaid tank with about 5-10lbs of LR and a 1.5" sandbed. I also have two mantis shrimp, a 2.5 or 3" Green Peacock Mantis, and a 3/4"(yes, 3/4") Gonodactylus species, which is green with white mottling. I was wondering if it would be plausible to keep these two in this 15g 'tank' so to speak? The Gonodactylus sp. has taken up residence inside a small palythoa rock and I believe there are two entrances two it through which it can pass. It is fairly brave and curious for its size. The peacock mantis is living between a couple rocks in it's tank.

I target feed both.

I was also hoping to put in my two goliath crabs whom have been muching my macro algae in my fuge. I know that the larger mantis could likely take them down with ease, they have about a 1-1.5" body, which I dont mind, but Im wondering if this setup would be OK with the 3 different species of animals? All I have to do right now is transfer the mantises and crabs to the tank.

Thank-you for any responses.

Take care,

Chris

Odds are you'll only have one left if you keep them together. You can divide the tank with egg crate just make sure the mantis's are too big to squeeze through the holes and you have a good fit from the bottom of the tank too the top making sure the bottom reaches all the way to the bottom on the tank the sand and if needed live rock work will hold the egg crate in place.

Thats for the suggestions.

I know a fellow who had been keeping 8+ peacocks in his 50g setup(main tank and fuge) and I think possibly another large species aswell. It has been working fine for him.

I'll see what further input I get and then make a decision.

Cheers,

Chris

He had a 15g above tank fuge and a 50g tank, he had over 10 mantis shrimp and they were not all peacocks but most were. He always introduced them to the fuge first, but I think half or more made it ito the main tank through the gravity feed. He started aquring them I think....10-12 months ago and all but one died when he got an ammonia spike a few months ago, unfortunately. They were not all killed by one of them, this spike occured and killed them at the same time.

Any more input to my question? Thanks.

Chris
