Keeping sand sifting starfish alive?

Hey guys

I've had a sand sifting starfish for about 2yrs and in the last 2 months he is slowly losing his legs. At first it was just one but now all 5 are half gone.

If there isn't much hope at this point and he's eaten everything in my sand bed is there a humane way to take care of him before he buried himself in my sand bed and dies and becomes a bigger mess?

What should I do?

Yup, maybe feed him to someone's Harlequin Shrimp.

Starfish have no brain. They don't feel pain or fear. Either feed him to a harlequin shrimp or freeze him solid, either works.
