Kelvin for LPS Tanks

Is it better to run LED's at 19K-20K over a Nuvo Fusion 20 Gallon LPS dominated tank.

Currently, have Acans, Blastos, Ricordea, Chalice, Favia, Bubble, Frogspawn, Elegance & Hammer(which seems to be acting up strangely).

Will I be able to generate enough PAR with this setting of 19K-20K on a 20 Gallon Tank.

Please advise.

Nobody out there to assist me with my light settings...I'M new to LPS and really would like to know whether my light settings are correct or should I alter them.

It's a weekend and things get slow around here. I don't know enough to give you a good answer. What kind of light are you running?

Hello Breadman...have the AI Prime around 8" above water level...Tank is a 20G Nuvo Fusion...Running UV: 50%, BLUES @ 100% and Red/Green/Whites @ 15%...Total photoperiod is 15 hrs with a 8 hr ramp time (4 hrs morning and evening)

With a little searching, it seems like you shouldn't have a problem with getting enough PAR for LPS and softies. Some SPS should be fine as well. Something to consider is the length of your photoperiod is quite long. I'd probably shorten it to about 12 hours of lighting, though I have my Radions set for some very low light level for a bit longer so I can see my tank after work.

Great...Thanks...will work on reducing the photoperiod...Maybe bring it down a notch and run actinic slightly longer...

I run my prime over my LPS frag tank at about 70% at peak, but never any whites, reds, greens etc as they are typically absent at LPS depths. I like the all blue pop and algae just never had a chance to grow at this spectrum. Tank has shrooms, zoas/palys etc as well and has run this way for almost 2 years.

Thanks for the info...I was pondering the same, however, with mixed reviews, decided to keep a bit of whites/greens & reds...Maybe, I'll give this a shot as well as have just lower my photoperiod to 12 hrs total.

What is your observation in terms of coral growth...Everywhere, I read says, that will only blues, the coral color pops, however, growth moves along at a snails pace.

Little bar tank here same deal, only blues all the time almost two years.

And the Frag tank I mentioned only blues
