Kenya Tree, Colt, and other Leathers exposed to air?

I have the 12G Nano-cube, so I don't have a lot of room to work with. I have been wanting a leather since they are relatively hardy, so now I am thinking it might be my next coral purchase. I was wondering though, the best place for it would probably be towards the top of my tank. However, when I do a water change (once a week), if the leather is exposed to air for a few minutes (hopefully not that long) will it hurt it? Does anyone else have this problem or have to do this? Any input will be appreciated.

I have a variety of corals from SPS to softies that get exposed for a few minutes. No harm done.

There's several corals in our 90g tank that get exposed to the air for 5 - 15 minutes when I do a water change (time varies with how quick I am). One of our leathers is in that bunch. No ill side effects I've ever seen.

There are crests of reefs in the pacific that are exposed to air for hrs at low tide, baking in the hot sun. I would assume there are some leathers in there; corals are much more tolerant to the air than people think.

Only thing I recall that should be an issue in the air for any length of time is sponge. If the water runs out of it I think it has to do with tissue damage. I once forgot to add a rock of sun polpys back into my tank and remembered it like 10 hours later. Took them a couple days to shake it off but no harm no foul.
