I have no idea what this is.. Its like a translucent white film/build up. It looks like his scales are flared up under this when I look up close. I tried for 20 minutes to get a good picture.

Also I just finished moving, and I don't have a stand or ANYTHING sufficient here to set my qt up on, so it's at a friends right now ALready housing a regal tang... Anybody know what this is?

Was this fish quarantined? How is it behaving? Any flashing, heavy breathing etc.? Is it eating? What size is the tank and what are the other inhabitants?

Hess been in here since start up in march. He's currently in a 30g, until this 55 is cycled, with two perc clowns, 2"yellow box fish, a 3"niger trigger and a 3-4" sailfin tang. Params are as so;

ammonia&nitrite:0
Nitrate:10ppm
pH:8-8.2
Calcium:540(high I know..)
dKh:high end of 8
Phosphates: maybe .001
Salinity/sg:1.024
double tested accurately.

The aquascaping is different since the move, and he's been hiding in between these two rocks for a couple of days, but still comes out to eat. I just noticed this today though... Somebody help..

Do you have any corals that could have stung him? I hope you have a bigger tank than a 55 for a Sailfin tang and a niger trigger.

I have a stand for a 4' 150g just not the space in this house. Moving again next summer so they'll be in their suitable home before they get too large. And yes, I have some corals, but nothing that could do this to him I don't think. Maybe the hammer? Idk. The injury looks like it's running to his tail almost.. There's a rock flower nem in this tank, but I've never seen any fish come into contact with him, and I'd imagine the sore would be bigger if nem really had ahold of him

I don't think a hammer could do this kind of damage. If it looks like it's spreading I would think it is more of an infection. Do you have any antibiotics on hand?

All of my qt meds are the next town up with my qt and blue tang :/ I'm gonna bag him up tomorrow and take him over there. It really almost looks like fuzzy mold, but I can tell his scales are flared up under it. He's not showing any odd signs other than hiding in that rock, he comes out to eat regularly and hasn't shown any flashing or heavy breathing. It is spreading I think..
