Kole Tang advice? experience?

My Kole is fine with my clowns and chromis but is very nasty to my Copperband Butterfly....and I was planning on adding another tang at some point..Hah, there goes that. From my experience with this fish it will try and kill anything that even remotely resembles it. It's pretty aggressive and territorial....its territory being the entire tank as mine is a tireless swimmer.

hi, i recently added a spotted kole to my tank, mixed fine with all other tankmates, 2x maroon clowns, chalk goby, horrible blue damsel, yellow tang, but now 4 weeks on the kole is chasing all but yellow tang, now goby got whitespot and smaller male clown hides in the rocks all day.

mines now on probation for another couple weeks and if he not stop then he going back to LFS.

but i would say that every fish is different.

I have my Kole with a Bi-color Blenny, three firefish, two clowns, and a shrimp goby. He has never bothered anything in the tank at all. I'm surprised to hear about Kole's being aggressive towards other fish as I've never witnessed anything like that with mine.

Mine has never bitten (that I've seen) my butterfly, but if they so happen to cross paths, which inevitably happens he will chase it. And with fish that can become easily stressed and contract ich like other tangs, the chasing might be enough to cause disease and consequently death.

Forgot to mention, at the beginning he would constantly take aggressively swipes with his surgeon knife, but I haven't seen him do it in a little bit as aggression has died down. You never know as it could start back up again. Maybe your kole will be a bit more pleasant in demeanor than mine is.
