Koralias for a mixed reef

I have a 55 gallon mixed reef with a 2 inch sandbed that has fiji pink sand. Im going to switch out my jerryrig powerhead setup for koralias. I was wondering what size koralias and how many of them I should get so that my SPS get enough flow, and that there is not soooo much flow that my softies get hammered. I also do not want a sandstorm to occur either.
Thanks! :)

don't put sps and softies in the same area. Thats could be a difficult task but they should be a little further away. As far as the sandstorm, simple, don't put the koralia near the sand- no sand storm. as for the the size, you shouldn't need more than 2 either # 1 or #2 or a combination of both.

I have two Korallia #3 on my 75g mixed reef and think the corals (mostly softies right now) would like even more flow. The sandbed would disagree though!

Depending on other sources of flow in the tank (for example I also have 2 Mag 5 return pumps) you could probably do either two #2s or two #3s.

Good luck. :)

i have a #4 and a #1 in my 29, sand stays down fine(didnt at first) and i have some zoas, rics and a clam, i would go with MINIMUM of 2 #4

I have a #3 in my 55. I don't feel that it is too much at all. It does need to be up higher and not pointed downward, thats for sure. I run 3 maxi's on a wavemaker as well.
For you, I could see 2 #3's being difficult to control. But maybe a #2 instead, or some other powerhead with less flow.

I had two #3s in my 60gal, I replaced them with two Tunze 6055s. The Koralias were really causing my sandbed to drift. The Tunze's are a bit narrower in their flow (which, imo, is better in a shallow tank) plus their controllability is very nice. Of course, they're spendy...

I just bought a Koralia #2 from my son's nano, and it came with an additional nozzle to narrow the flow. If the #3s now come with one (I bought mine a while ago), their stream might be narrow enough to not disturb the sand bed. Worth checking into...

I have one in my 55g, along with a Freedom Filter that has flow, and its not too much. I have both of them turned up towards the surface, and it provides plenty of mixture, and it doesnt churn the sand too much. I think its more a matter of aiming them properly.

I have a #3 in my 55, SPS and sand is fine. Soft corals and some LPS need to be strategically placed. Unless you have full SPS I would recommend a #3.
