Hey guys thanks for the replies. Tommyboynj, my tank stays between 78.8-81. Is that too much swing? I have a chiller and heaters obviously and thats the best ive been able to maintain. Closer to the low end in the chilly night/mornings, 81 when really hot. What would you reconmend feeding them? I know they get there nutrition through the light and water, but I would love for it to really grow and become huge. In the month I've had it I've noticed new little heads and can't wait for it to really take off.
Mcgeezer, no changes in flow. Haven't messed with anything.

Moved the power heads a bit two weeks ago to make my pagoda cup coral happy, but didn't affect the Duncan at all. The power head is on the far left (20 gal long), while the Duncan is on the far right in the sand. In the middle is a large hammer colony the blocks any direct flow from the Duncan.
Update. Last night before lights out the section in question opened 90%. I had spot fed it hoping to entice it, seemed to work but... I fed some pellets as I didn't have anything meaty to offer, and they were spit back out. After that, opened up to the 90% so? lol Maybe it was just ready. Well see tonight what it looks like when I get off work. 95% closed this morning (except one head 100%). But if it opens back up like it did yesterday, I imagine it's just being weird.
For any newbies such as myself who have Duncan problems and stumble upon this... My problem has been narrowed down to the obvious few. Either the dead cleaner shrimp irritated it so it opened when ready (been told unlikely nit know knows), the water changed fixed any parameters that were off, or the spot feeding brought them back out. Took roughly 48-55 hrs for a change. Hope that helps someone sooner or later.
