Large sump set-up

I will be converting my 540 planted Discus tank to a Reef tank soon. I would like some advice on peoples sump sysyems for large tanks. I like the idea of the large rubbermaid 100 gallon bins if they work? Sumps will be in the basement so there will be a 15' head. I will use a deltec skimmer and phos reacter for main filters and would like a refugium. Please advise, would love to see what others have done with this type of set-up.

Here is my thread.. didnt use rubbermaid bins.. my sump does it all.. holds 2 skimmers(one is a Deltec) refugium, 25 gallon water change chamber.. the works...

I have a 150g rubbermaid tub. They are extremely cheap and flexible as far as use. There is a coupe of drawbacks to them:

1. The places where you would drill it are somewhat round, so getting it to seal right with a bulkhead may be tricky.

2. Because they are much more narrower at the bottom than the top, you may have as much as 20% of the volume capacity in the top 5"-8". Mine is 150g and I have about 100g in it and the water level is about 6" from the top.

Those acrylic sumps are pretty cool. I wished I ahd one, but at the size I want (60"x48"x30") it is cost prohibitive. I looked into getting one made out of PVC and it was extremely expensive too. Can't beat a rubbermaid tub in that department.
