Large Tank Manufacturer Recommendations

Expanding the audience to locals as I also have this same thread in the Large Reef Tanks section...

I had to sell my tank in April before moving and kept all my equipment in anticipation of building a large tank in new house. House has sold, starting to settle into new house and have been here nearly a month now. That being said, it's tank time and I've got a perfect space to build an in-wall setup between the finished and un-finished portion of the basement.

I'm in early stages of planning of new tank and want to reach out to RCers for thoughts and opinions on Tank Manufacturers. Below is what I have in mind and I'd like to first culminate a list of glass tank manufacturers you'd recommend for a tank of this size.

Tanks Manufacturers I've been researching:
- A.G.E.
- Miracles
- Glass Cages (Bad reviews)
- Coast to Coast Aquariums

I'm looking to have a tank of dimensions around 96X36X28 and Starphire glass on front since it will be in the wall. Once I get good list of builders and my possibilities I'd like to start to reach out to them to get quotes on the tank/steel stand so I can start budgeting myself and doing a large amount of research/planning/designing of the system. Before pulling the trigger I also want to make sure and post my plans and spend a few months getting the advice from RCers with experience with a large system. I have about 4 years experience with SW and largest system I've kept is 100 gallons and am ready to make the leap!

Thanks in advance for the help and recommendations! My expectation is that the tank will be of high quality and include a fair price but last 10-15 years so it can really mature to a beautiful reef.

I have a 48x30x24 rimless made by Miracles with starphire on the front and sides. I can't find anything wrong with the quality. If you're ever in Terre Haute, you're more than welcome to come and inspect it for yourself.

I recently dealt with glasscages and have to say that I did not have a bad experience. Although I went down to the factory to check out their 'outlet' showroom.

I ended up getting a 60 gallon cube that was a great deal, although after trying to load it my vehicle was slightly too small. I really did not want to go through the hassle of shipping but had no other choice. Due to their shipping schedule I had to want over a month, but for only 35 bucks for shipping it was a big deal.

The best part of the whole situation was their willingness to make an extra stop in-between ft wayne and indy, which saved me over an hour drive time.

Just wanted to let you know that all of the reviews are not bad ones.

I seem to have neglected this thread and not subscribed!

Since posting I have actually went with the idea of going acrylic since I've got to move this down to a basement and a glass tank would be ridiculously heavy with 3/4" glass!

That being said, I've got the following on my list for acrylic Manufacturers:

- A.G.E. - Still awaiting quote
- Midwest Acrylic - Great price and had a good discussion on phone with owner
- IPI - Similar price to Midwest but
- ATM - Gave wrong quote and horrible to respond. I waited a week and a half for a quote and then got a wrong one....Not liking this as an option! (Should have known after seeing how bad the show was and being one of the worst disasters to our hobby...I'll quit ranting)
- Envision - Added to list and sending a quote request

*I'm now subscribed to my own thread if you have any Acrylic recommendations I've not considered. I'm still on the fence on whether I should go with 3/4" or 1" acrylic so share your opinions!

That's going to be a HUGE tank. Hopefully you have a walk-out basement so you don't have to carry it down some stairs.

This is exactly why I'm using acrylic. Cuts down the weight a ton! I'm sure it will be better than moving my pool table down and all the slate! The glass tank with 3/4" glass was going to be 1200 lbs!
