Large tank question

I'm looking to purchase a used 900g tank and had a question about the access panels. We currently have a 550g tank with access panels cut out from the top piece of acrylic. This new tank is 6 separate pieces rather than one piece of acrylic. It still has the bracers in the middle but I was curious as to how sturdy it is. Would this be a good investment or not even worth it? We are really looking to upgrade but are nervous about the top not being sturdy enough.

Also we use our 500g as a traveling tank show, the new 900 would be an upgrade for the same sort of show.

Is the tank in good enough condition that the separate pieces, or new panels, could be welded on? Then you could route out new/additional access holes into them that way. You would want a professional plastics shop to do the assessment and welding for you.
