Large white spot on clam

This Gigas was in my buddies tank for a couple months after my tank crashed. It was doing well but then just came up with this large white spot. He says his cleaner shrimp was working on it. I've moved it over to my tank, now that its running again.

any ideas?

its localized bleaching. i don't think there's anything you can do rignt now. just make sure that nothing is shading it but don't blast it with light right now either

Not a problem at all, unless it begins to spread over more of the mantle. It's likely caused by an unknown sort of infection - but I've seen such spots on MANY wild tridacnids, gigas and squamosa in particular, which were otherwise perfectly healthy and growing. Unfortunately it does seem to be permanent though...
