Larger pump Brs dual reactor

Does anyone know of a stronger pump that will fit the tubing that comes stock with the dual reactor? Im using the 1200 now with it and after 4-5 days the carbon and gfo I run stops moving and the pump starts rattling.

Seems like 4-5 days before I have to change the media or clean the sponges is a short time. Is this what everyone else does? Only have a half cup of carbon in one and a half cup of gfo or phosban in the other.

Something is wrong with your pump. I run a MJ1200 on my BRS dual with the carbon totally filled (ca 3 cups) and the gfo 2/3 full (ca 2 cups). The only problem I have is if I don't change it out after about a month, it gunks up and stops flowing. One more thing, I've got the valve opened about halfway to get the gfo to tumble.

i also have the brs dual with mj 1200 only run 1/3 cup of both gfo and carbon change out each month no problems at all probably open my valve 35-40% to get slight tumble of gfo

You need a smaller pump. The new maxi jets suck too. The pump is destroying your gfo, which causes the sponges to block. What I do is I'll pull the gfo, clean sponges, and then put the same gfo back

The maxijet 1200 just doesn't cut it on the dual reactor. You will find your flow will drop off significantly as time passes. Check postings on dual reactors and you will see majority have same problem. I use a mag 5 and adjust the flow with ball valve. I use 1/2 CPCV coming from my pump then a 3/8 to 1/2 murlock reducer to connect tubing to CPVC (not PVC). As the sponges clog I can adjust the flow with the ball valve.

You want to adjust flow so the GFO has a very light fluid like movement. You should barely be able to detect movement to keep from crushing your GFO into powder. I use high capacity but can't say if it is worth extra money as just started using it.

Well pump is new because I thought it might be the problem. I was using a older 1200 so i replaced it with another one. Does the same thing.

So there should just be a small amount of movement? Right now with the small amount in the chambers I see the top of the media slowly tumbling with the valve all the way open.

I might try a bigger pump can always throttle it down. What is CPCV? is that the type of piping that comes with the reactors?
