I came across a gadget tonight, a watt usage meter that plugs into any item in your home (110v). Plug in your lamp, tv, (fishtank) and find out how much true usage you are getting out of your stuff. Its called "Kill-A-Watt Electric Usage Monitor", and have been finding them online for a retail of $30ish and on ebay for $20 plus shipping. Online reviews from the "geek" sites shows it works like its supposed to and gives you a bunch of other info at the same time.

I found them available at office max.com, but dont know if you can get them at the retail stores. Price is $25 there.
Office Max link
Homedepot.com list them online, but say they are out and list them as $39.99, dr fosters list them at $35.
Just thought this was cool and would share!
