Layering in a reactor

Everything I have ever read on this said it doesn't matter. A few stated GFO on bottom but no real reason given.

I would put the GFO closest to the pump so you can dial in the tumble easier. Carbon doesn't much matter.

The problem stacking them in a single reactor is the GFO won't tumble. If you put GFO on top, it is small enough to work its way into the gaps between the carbon.

The heavier item will end up on the bottom and lighter on the top depending on the flow through the unit....if you get the product to "dance" or become fluid this will happen....if the flow is low then you will not achieve what your looking for because it will not "dance" and eventually end up getting plugged up with detritus.

My mistake. I thought what he was explaining was a single reactor with separate sections for two different types of media. If I were you, I would run only GFO in your reactor and carbon in a bag until you get another. If you have too much flow on your GFO it will break down. Too little and it clumps.
