leaky bulkhead?

I just set up my 100g system with FW and after checking the bulkhead it looks like their is a slight leak in both. the return is a small trickle on and off every few second, but it leaks strait down the pipe and into the sump/fuge. the water entering the pump has a very minor leak that barely drips. the return I am not as worried about, though I am a bit worried about the other one. I was wondering what I should do? I am thinking about just trying to tighten them a bit more and putting some plumbers tape over the leaks. any ideas?

also, how should I cure dead base rock? I scrubbed it and put it in FW once then let it dry and I am going to wash under a faucet, then dunk in treated FW again before it goes into the tank, should I do anything else? for my live rock, I am thinking I will give it a good scrub before placing it in the tank, so far in the holding bin I have noticed a nass. snail and TONS of copepods (or as I call em reef bugs!) which are literally everywhere you look.

check the gasket for sediment, check the hole for burrs, and make sure it is tight.

I had the same problem where my bulkhead had a slow drip coming out of the overflow. I took it apart and checked to make sure the gasket was free of debris. Then I tightened it again, this time with both hands. I was able to get an extra 1/4 turn out of it. After that, it stopped leaking.

Yep, try to tighten it. I learned an expensive lesson about loose bulkheads leaking.
