Leaky tank

Well. After all the hard work of getting the tank set up, it looks like Im going to have to drain all 150 gallons out, tank the sand out and seal up the inside. The tank seems to be leaking out very small amounts of water in the front. Little water droplets are pushing themselves out between the glass and wood trim on the bottom of the tank.

This sucks.

Anybody have any ideas? Is it going to even be safe to use this thing after I seal it up?

usually to seal a tank you have to remove all silicone and redo it. The silicone doesnt stick to silicone very well. You sure its coming from a seam and not a bulkhead?

Yeah, pretty sure. It drains from the bottom at the back of the tank. I searched around everywhere praying that something else was causing this.

To be honest. yeah you could cut the pane of glass out and re-silicone it. The big question would be could you sleep at night. With all the money we put into our tanks the glass box ends up being the cheapest thing in the long run. If it were me in your position I would really consider a new tank.

Did you get the tank pre-owned?

Sorry to hear about the leak :(
The 120 I got is preowned. I guess when it finally fills up here in the next couple of days I will know if it is a lemon or not. Maybe a glasscages tank would be good for you?

I guess this throws a wrench into the liverock deal we had worked up.

The thing about the bigger tanks is twisting them moving them around pops seams easy. I was freaked out when the guys were lugging in the 270. Hate to hear its leaking

That could have been part of the problem. I cant image how heavy that 270 was (by the way, its looking great! :)), but the 150 was hard enough, and shaped weird, and very uncomfortable to move around.

Either way, glasscages is making up a 120 gallon right now.

Anyone have a beeg leezard that needs a new home? :)

what are the demensions of this tank and price? I might get Sable a friend (my dumerils boa) and will need at least a 6'x2' tank.
