I'm brand new to this hobby and have basically learned everything thru this wonderful site. So I figured I'd contribute something back that might help a noob like me.
I've been stressing about a red Montipora I purchased about a month ago. Initially I purchased it with a couple Acro's (big mistake), at that time my parameters were all over the place and I basically destroyed them. The Monti was tough and recovered as I managed to stabilize my parameters. After the complete recovery I started to notice what I thought was bleaching on the edges of the Monti, I checked and rechecked my parameters for about a week not understanding what was going on. Turns out the white edge means the Monti is growing!!! :lolspin:
Also my tank has been running for 3 years. It was a hand me down biocube from a buddy who decided he had enough. Definitely don't buy any sps with a new tank. That's my 2 cents, hopefully a noob somewhere stressing a Monti with white edges will run into this.
Love this site. I can honestly say this is the first hobby I've been a part of with such a helpful community.
