leather coral suddenly wont open!

I had this coral open for almost a month when suddenly it stopped opening and shrunk in size. I was thinking its shedding but its been shrunk for almost 3 weeks already

My other softies which are zoas and mushrooms are doing fine. My LPS were fine as well, although I have some green film algae at the glass

Should I dip itor just leave it?

Also, Ill be receiving a freebie long tentacle plate from the LFS. I choose it over a green purple goniopora. Any care tips on them? Ive read alot that they seem to die after 6 months as well any tips?

My leather (18+ months) goes through cycles like that. My vote is to let it be for a while. The deflated state often becomes fully extended, and then it sheds baby sections to spread.

Yes I had a cyano outbreak a week ago. Most of it is cleared now after adding more flow to te tank.

Could it be the culprit?

Check your nitrates. Mine starts to shrivel when they go up.

My nitates were 5 ppm based on my last test. The green algae at the glass seems to consume it. I just left it since its just growing in the back part anyway.

Ill test again when i get home, but Im pretty sure my nitrates were at bay.
