Leather growth

What is going on here? It looks like this leather has branched out along its base rock and is growing a seperate...colony? Head? Body? Whatever you call it.

Does this happen often? Anyone have a good ID on this specimen? It was sold to me as a Tyree, and from a few quick searches that doesn't seem to be incorrect.

Sorry, the colors in this pic are way off, I don't own a proper camera. The new growth in question is below the main specimen and to the left a bit. It does have ~10 polyps sticking out of it, but they are colorless as of now.

I figured. Is it normal for then to put out runners in this fashion? I am fairly uneducated on their reproduction process.

yep. looks happy and the runners are normal. Like a mushroom with offspring
