Leather toadstool question....

Can anyone tell me if this toadstool looks ok. First time I have had one, been in the tank for about 4 days. I understand they are stubborn.

The leather will open and close about one time a day. Is this fully open for this type? The ones I have seen the individual tentacles are much longer and colorful.

Looksf fine. How do you have this animal mounted? Looks like it's on its side here? The leather should be facing up in modferate flow and decent lighting (does not need MH's).

the leather was leaning a bit. I have it straight up in the tank now. Thanks... Will it open further than this... can you tell me what species it is so I know what to anticipate?

Thats an interesting color it has. What is your lighting?

For now I am running a 48" PC 128W and an additional 50/50 48 strip light. Upgrading to Halides or VHO this week so I can run 250W. Any suggestions would be super! The tank is an 80G tall.

The fella I bought the tank from was using VHO lighting and it maintained the same color when I moved it to my tank.

light to modern flow, medium to high light. They get ****ed off if you move them and sometimes take a day to reset. There are mushrooms with diff size tenticles, so, unless you have seen this mushroom any differant than it is, it is gonna be hard to tell. Make sure you dont as much as bump it or change water flow at all in a 24/48 hour setting or it gets ****ed.

I don't believe it is fully open. They will often go through a period of not opening and/or shedding. I think if you'll just give it some time to adjust to its new surroundings it will be fine. Species I think is probably Sarcophyton sp. but I'm not real good at the scientific names.
