Leaving town during Red Sea Reef Mature Program

As stated, I am leaving town during the beginning stages of the reef mature program. Should I will be out of town for the weekend next week and was wondering if I should start it and just roll with it when I get back or just start the program when I get back? Thoughts?

At what state of the process are you already?
And what specifically is in the tank now? All dry rock just started? a mix of dry/live rock? all live rock purchased locally,etc..?

Personally I'm not a big fan of red seas "programs" as most people just don't understand whats happening and just do what they tell them without being able to think/understand for themselves plus I don't think its right to give a day by day plan when there are too many variables to guarantee that what you are seeing is what should be happening exactly in their plan..
BUT..

depending on where you are in the cycling process you can either start it when you get back or just skip the whole thing as it might not be needed...

Whats important is understanding what a cycle is and how that all works..

Thanks for the response. I do understand what a cycle is and the process. I haven't started the process yet. Currently it is cycling with live sand and dry rock. Skimmer is running and I'm going to fire up my ATS this weekend.

So how long as it been going?
Have you been measuring for ammonia?

In general its intended to be used from the start of a system.. (well the 2 bacterial bottles).. Then the other 2 (KH and nopox) can be used whenever really..

But really.. do whatever you want.. Its likely not going to make a difference if you start it now or in a week or whatever...

IMO, if it's cycling just let it cycle. You shouldn't be adding *anything* at this point. So just go out of town and come back and don't worry about it.

Biggest reason people fail in this hobby is because they add things to their tank when it isn't needed. If you aren't replacing a deficiency or don't understand why something is being added, then it shouldn't be added. I'm a fan of Red Sea's programs, generally, but only once you actually have a reason to be doing it, just like any dosing. I wasn't aware that they have a program where you start while cycling -- that seems nuts to me. My 2 cents.

And you should read it.. Its a detailed day by day like day 4 your ammonia will be X and tomorrow its going to be Y and blah blah.. in 2 days do this because exactly this will be happening..
We get quite a few people saying "red sea says this but I see this.. whats wrong".. and nothing is wrong except their detailed day by day assumptions..

Been a bunch of posts recently too about that program, which is interesting. Seems like it makes it look simple at first, but ends up being more confusing since what they say will happen doesn't.

It really is simple but they fact that they state a specific day that everything should be happening is stupid IMO...
They should explain the concepts so people can follow along with what does happen but don't nail it down to a specific day..

Indeed

and since this has derailed a bit, OP I'd wait, then go through it when you get back, or what you can of it when you get back.

Man, that Red Sea marketing team sure makes that company money.
