I just built a LED array for my 120. It's not all that hard, had fun, and learned a lot! And I saved hundreds!

I say build it! If you need any help let me know.

how much did it cost and what and where did you order very interested in ordering and getting started

I purchase directly from the Chinese manufacturer FEDY. $1.27 for 18000K whites and $2.24 for royal blues and .14 cents for 60 degree lenses. I have a 120G tank and am running 52 whites with 26 RBs. My fixture is 18 inches from the water surface and I get PAR readings of 575 at the surface and 205 at the bottom.

Does anyone know if there are any DIY LED projects with sophisticated controllers?

I love DIY but I want the advantage of a computerized controller to handle my color temps and fade in and fade out.

Also, if I was to DIY. I'd stick with the CREE LEDs. The chinese ones are cheap and they burn out.

I'm controlling mine with the Reefkeeper ALC module... let's set brightness, fade, etc.

As for quality of the ones I am using no one has had any complaints. Any LED (Cree or other) will burn out faster if they are overdriven. I and many others are very happy with the LEDs from LEDFEDY.
