To piggy back off of the wp40 question, are there LED alternatives lime the wp40 alternative to the mp40. To try and make sense my friend in Pittsburgh recommended this light for my 120 4x2 tank: Reefbreeders.com it's the photon 48. If anyone has suggestions or knowledge on this particular light would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance

Reefbreeders fixture is probably the best option. There are very mixed reviews on the Chinese eBay LED, its cheap but risky. You could also look at some of the used Vegas, sols and radions. I'm saving up for the ai Hydra for my small frag tank

I was part of the last group buy, I'm not sure when there will be another group buy but I ordered the value fixture for a 35 rimless tank and am very pleased with the fixture. There are a lot of reviews on the photons and most are good reviews that I have read.

Reefbreeder lights seem to get pretty good reviews. Henry Colf has some Chinese made fixture and gets really good growth and color from it.

If you have an interest and any electronics skill, you can probably DIY a brighter LED fixture cheaper than you can buy one. It does take planning and a good amount of time though.

I have the photon 32inch light fixture from reef breeders and have great growth with lps and sps corals. I have had mine since December of last year and these lights work great. It's quiet and I love the touch screen feature.

Initial thoughts are pretty good. I cant comment on longevity or coral growth but the build quality seems to be pretty good. The dimmers good be a little more precise but nothing major. I have to look into seeing if anyones ever built a arduino controller with this type of fixture.

i moved from two 250W MH's to the reefbreeders photon 48 in June. i've been very pleased with it. nowhere near as much heat as the MH's. my temp stays fairly constant throughout the day now. and the actinics on the reefbreeders are amazing. they really make the coral colors pop.

the only thing i'd add is that i don't keep acroporas anymore, so i'm not sure how they would do under it. but monti's, chalices, lps, and softies are all doing great.

Those look real nice. Interested to see how corals respond and how long they last. Hopefully they dont give you issues down the road.
