Thanks. I'll check it out. I didn't realize the extent to which people were using these things or the variety of possible applications. It's a lot to take in.
One last question. Can I buy an Arduino already put together and coded with a touch screen for setting parameters? I realize there will be drivers, relays, power supplies, sensors, and other devices that would have to be connected, but I can handle that if a simple diagram is included.
Yes its called ReefAngel controller. As for your channel plan. You ever wonder why they don't sell a mix of sugar, salt and pepper in one jar? What's the point of two separate royal blue channels?

I like the Reef Angel. If I were going to buy a commercially built controller, I'd consider it. I was hoping I could build (or have built) an Arduino based controller and then build the supporting modules with off the shelf components for much less money.
As for the Royal Blue channels... I used 2 because I was figuring on using the Storm controller which has 6 channels and thought the wiring was easier.

Fernando the creator of the ferduino code is currently designing an all in one Arduino board but its not available yet. Hopefully sooner than later.
You can see the most updated image of it in post #18 at this link http://www.ferduino.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=49&sid=5ebf9ea73ebed68c96e6a0ca075d7652
If your willing to wait it definitely would make life easier and I would guess
they will probably come with code installed with language of your choice(available in six different languages).
Commercial units are less work but you still need to program them not to mention all the propriatory addons and a lot more money out of your pocket.
After looking into controllers myself for sometime and realizing the end cost once you have all the addons, I felt the Arduino is the way to go.
Since you already have a working LED system it might be best to take your time setup the Arduino contoller in your spare time.
Also don't forget with the PWM output of the Arduino you can control multiple LED drivers with one channel.
If it wasn't for all the home renovations I have going on I would have had mine up and running already.
Hope this helps
