OK sorry if the question has been asked before but I'm thinking of upgrading my lights to LED's but really have no clue how many, how big, any advice would help thanks. Tank is a 150gal and i want to grow coral (SPS) better

Lots of options, it really depends on how much you want to spend and what functionality you want. Radions and Mitras are are the two high end fixtures I would consider if I had $. AI, Maxpect Razor, Kessil, there are many to choose from. Read up on them in the equiptment forum.

I have the kessil a350 is you would like to see it. If you have not seen led only tanks in person I strongly recommend doing so. IMHO many led only systems are visually lacking. Kessil is a good example. As an addition to my t5s I love it. By itself it is ok at best.

I'll disagree about the led's being visually lacking but everyone has their own opinions for sure. Anyhow, I am a big diy'er, so I'd hit it with 3x100w multichips, no optics, 7" off water surface.

I am running 12 Radion Pro's on my main display. It's 96' x 42'. I would think that you would be good with 4 Radions if you went that route. As for SPS growing... check out my build thread. The lights are 56' from the bottom of my tank and I am having no issues with my Clams or LPS on the bottom!

Thank you for the info I think I will check out some LED only tanks first before i make the change, I am a diy'er my self so i think i would prolly go that route

I used an outer orbit fixture with 2 150W MH bulbs and two dual actinics on my 120g. That created plenty of light but also a lot of heat. Plus the bulbs had to be replaced every 1 1/2 to 2 years which became expensive. I am in the process of starting a nano and am going to try LED's for this one. I like the fact that LED's last longer, use considerably less energy to run, and do not generate as much heat. I have an 8 gal. nano on the way and already have a CREE PAR38 LED bulb that I'm going to use on it. The bulb has 8 royal blue and 4 10k bulbs in it. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

I am running a Pacific Sun LED t-5 hybrid called Pandora over my 100 and I have a Radion Pro over my 40 the Pacific Sun blows the Radion out of the water there is no comparison. The light is amazing and it is a true wireless light so it is much easier to program.
