Legs, will they grow back?

My mantis lost a leg in an altercation with a particularly fiece and underhanded crab. It is one of the large front smashers. Is it gonna grow back, or should he just be renamed "lefty"?

it may or may not grow back immedeatly. mantids are pretty confident in surviving with only one smashing appendage. it may slowly grow it back over the next few molts or it may just live on with one. however, if it does loose its other appendage it has th oppertunity to molt and regrow both of them. i think i read somewhere that it has been observed that they may even be able to force themselves to molt getting their appendage to grow back quicker.

It wasnt like that crab. I wouldnt keep a crab like that, he scares me.

My mantis had lost one of her smashers before I bought her at the LFS (I was aware of it, but hoped she'd recover). She had totally regrown the appendage within 4 months, couldn't tell it had ever been gone!

I feel like a bad mantis owner though--I NEVER know when my mantis molts. She's out every day, unless she's targeting my days out of town to molt. How long does it take a peacock to molt and how long should she be in hiding with one?
