Lense brands

Are Tamron and Sigma brand lenses any good? I am looking at buying a Canon Rebel XT1 and some possibly less expensive lenses than Canon's.

Some of the Sigmas are really good and I've heard good things about the Tamron 90mm macro lens. photodo.com has some lens test scores- you might want to look there to see if your lens is listed.
